The Hands Behind the Grain

Tim O'Neill's relationship with wood began as a quiet observation of his father building the family's garage in the backyard at age 11 and then becoming a participant with his father to complete the project.

Based on his workshop in Southern California, Tim transforms raw salvaged timber into objects of tactile signifiance.

Each piece of wood is a dialogue between the lathe and the grain.  His work is not merely turned, it is uncovered, honoring the slow growth of woods from around the world.
